- Aloe Vera Gel (Not that radioactive-colored goop in the suntan lotion section. You want the food-grade stuff in the health-food aisle of your supermarket. If you can't find it, try a holistic store like Sprouts or Whole Foods.)
- Apple Cider Vinegar (Mine was cheap and not organic, but the organic stuff may yield even better results.)
- Essential Oil of your choosing (I used lavender, but you might prefer peppermint or patchouli or another nourishing oil.)
- Crystals for hair + skin (I recommend peridot, rhyolite, and unakite.)
I've been experimenting with all-natural, DIY beauty products recently in my attempts to go as green and clean as possible. I'm still working on nailing down the perfect shampoo formula, but I wanted to share this fabulous, crystal-infused hair conditioner recipe with all of you!
Mix equal parts aloe vera gel and apple cider vinegar, or mix portions of each until you reach the consistency you want. It's best to avoid going over a 1/4 a cup of each, as they won't last indefinitely like the stuff on the drugstore shelves. Add 5-20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix until well blended and drop your crystals in. Keep near the shower and add to the ends of your hair after each shampoo. Rinse briefly with cold water.
Everyone's hair is different, so it's hard to say if yours will react as well as mine. Keep this one off the roots unless you're deep conditioning and have nowhere to be that day. It will leave the roots clean feeling but greasy looking. And if you have oily hair, this may not be as good for you. But if you have highlighted, dry, or split-end hair like mine, your hair should love it!

Summer is here, school is out, and many of us are planning trips to white sand beaches and fabulous resorts, hoping to catch a little sun, a little rest, and a little magic along the way.
When you pack your bags for vacation, do you remember to pack your crystals? Crystals make wonderful traveling companions. They can hold intentions for your trip and should be part of any awakened soul’s packing routine. But traveling light is vital and it’s important to know which crystals are best for you to bring on your journey.
I have a few tried and true favorites for the road. If you have one or two of these stones, toss them into your suitcase before you hike, ride, or fly to your next destination ...

Sacred space is something I feel passionate about. If we want the numinous to show up in our lives, we must make room for it to do so. And yet, so many people I meet outsource the sacred in their lives, believing they must “go somewhere” to get the contact and connection with Spirit that they’re looking for. They visit churches, or holy sites, or beautiful places in nature and get a boost from their surroundings, only to return home to the constant grind of daily life and lose contact with the longing of their own souls.
If you want to live a life that is connected, that is whole, that is radiant … if you want to live a life that is vital, and full of purpose and meaning and soul, you must make room in your life for those things to show up. You must create space in your schedule and your home that is dedicated to that vision. You must hold that space with commitment and love ...

I have clients contact me all the time because they've noticed some kind of change in their crystal, something that wasn't there or obvious before. These seemingly spontaneous changes can take many forms:
And there are probably many more than these. Science has yet to give us any conclusive answers for what's going on when something like this happens, but my guides have a few things to say on the matter.
For starters ...
TRUST YOUR CRYSTAL.
Your crystal knows what it is doing. We do not need to be privvy to all the how's and why's for something to work.
Crystals have a purpose just like you and I have a purpose. Collectively, crystals (a.k.a. the mineral kingdom) are here to support life. While on the surface they may appear fixed, and while it is true that their sacred geometric structure renders them resistant to entropy, they are at the same time energetically quite responsive. This responsive nature is built into their energetic nature in order to enable them to fulfill their purpose of supporting life.
When a crystal agrees to work with you (yes, you may have purchased it, but like all other synchronistic encounters, there are soul contracts in place prior to that intersection) it directs a portion of this responsive energy toward you specifically. It is essentially as though it were paying attention to you. In this way, it is naturally capable of shifting in order to reflect shifts or changes in you or your life. Much as the rest of your 3D experience will mirror your energetic state and reflect your own light and shadows, so too will your crystals.
So what do you do when this happens?
These kinds of changes in your crystal are rarely a call to get rid of the crystal. And they are NEVER a reason to fear it. While we should approach every mineral with respect, it is important to remember the supportive role they are here to play. Resistance toward the help and communication of your crystal (which is what fear of your crystal actually is) reflects an unwillingness to become self aware or to change, and this is in actuality a resistance to truth.
If you have stories or experiences of changing crystals you'd like to share, feel free to do so in the comments. Learning to engage with our crystal friends through experiences like these is exciting!
Lately I have been enjoying the healing benefits of a dynamic combination of crystals that are relatively rare: cacoxenite, strengite, and saleeite.
While I would love to have specimens of each of these in my collection someday, the truth is that I don’t have physical access to a single one of these minerals. So how am I tapping in to their super juicy good juju? Easy. The secret is in my use of the term physical access. While we may not have physical access to every crystal in the mineral kingdom, we do have energetic access to all of them. And the best part is, we don’t have to spend a dime to use it.
Relying on our energetic connection to crystals and stones comes in very handy when …
So how does one access a crystal or stone energetically?
Ideally, you need a link to that mineral that you can use like a channel to access the crystal’s energy. This can be anything—a picture, holding the image of it in your mind, even simply knowing the name of the mineral. Obviously, it would be pretty hard to find your way to connecting with a mineral you don’t even know exists. But as long as you know the name, what it looks like, it’s crystal system, whatever! Then you can use that to begin tapping into it energetically.
Here are five easy steps anyone can follow to work with a stone that’s not in their collection:
This week's blog is a little off topic for me, but I will follow up with some great earth-lovin', vegan-supportive, plant-happy crystals to satiate your mineral needs! So hear me out ...
As a spiritual reader and teacher, I coach others through the ups and downs of life, and my focus is on the whole picture--how it all connects--not just one corner of their being. Because I know every facet, every layer, is feeding into each other. I recognize that while our brains like to compartmentalize, we are a symphony of energies, and it isn't always so simple as body, mind, spirit. What we feed our bodies, changes our minds and shifts our spirit. What we feed our spirit, impacts our bodies, and so on. There is no cut off point, no wall seperating where one begins and another ends. In fact, this desire to seperate things out is a byproduct of our very limited, two-dimensional perception, but that's another blog.
So a few months ago when the shit hit the fan in my life in regards to a health crisis I suddenly (though it's never really so sudden ... is it?) found myself facing, I had to lean into the support of my guides, and begin a multi-faceted approach to my healing at their direction. And the physical, 3D angle of this approach involved giving up a great majority of my diet, including all animal foods, and finally switching completely to a plant-based, vegan lifestyle.
While I'd toyed with the notion of going vegan more than once over the years, and while I'd found it increasingly hard to maintain certain staples as my spiritual gifts + sensitivities grew (Goodbye coffee! Goodbye alcohol!), I had yet to commit to what I knew was the absolute best dietary choice for me.
Enter this crystal grid, one hell of a sleep disorder (PLMD ... google it) + a couple of months of severe, mind-altering sleep deprivation, and a cluster-f*ck of autoimmune disease, iron and hormone deficiency, and who knows what else (we're still testing).
Two months into a vegan diet (I know, I'm a baby vegan still), there are so many changes underway physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, that at times I feel like a walking science experiment. And there are plenty of vegan bloggers and vloggers out there to inform and inspire. But I wanted to share my healing story (a work in progress) and my experience because my focus is on the metaphysical, not just the nutritional, and it's not always easy to find people who talk about the whole picture like I do.
So here's a rundown of just some of the things that can and do happen when you switch to a plant-based diet. I can't promise all of these will happen to you in the same way or same time as they have me, but I can promise you that if you answer the calling to a higher way of feeding and nourishing yourself (all of you--not just your body) through plant foods, you will experience your own amazing, mind-blowing, spirit-soaring, body-loving shifts that will quickly amount to the biggest game-changer of this or any lifetime.
1. Deep, Restorative Sleep
Say that with me one time, "Deep, restorative sleep." Doesn't that just sound incredible? Can you remember the last time you slept this way? This one was primary for me because what led me to this change was the final breakdown of my sleep patterns. And by breakdown, I mean utter obliteration. Take it from me, chronic sleep deprivation is a one-way ticket to the psyche ward. It is unbearable. To go from no sleep to full nights of deep, restorative sleep was nothing short of a miracle.
2. High Energy
Plants are super fuel! As your body clears out the debris and toxicity of your previous diet, you grow lighter and lighter, and your energy levels steadily increase until they soar. If, like most everyone else on the planet, you struggle with fatigue or flagging energy levels, you may need to take a hard look at your diet in addition to decreasing stress (stop overworking! Burn out is a thing!), meditating more, and finding balance where and when you can.
3. You Glow
Guess what? Our bodies are FULL of light. I don't mean this in just an energy-healer, woo-woo way. I mean we have scientifically discovered that out our cells communicate via light before the biochemical reactions occur. We are literal light beings. When you consume living, light-filled food like raw fruits & veggies, that light builds and builds within you until it begins to shine out of every pore. Pretty soon your aura, and your skin, will be so bright, you'll need to wear shades. (See what I did there? Lame eighties reference. You're welcome.)
4. Anxiety & Stress Melt Away
I know, it sounds impossible. I wouldn't believe it either. But I promise you, I am not making this up. I'm not even fudging just a little for effect. This is the honest-to-goodness truth. Eat more plants and stress less. Period. It's so simple. As you move from animal foods to plant foods, you find that anxiety just stops happening. Even when you have a reasonable excuse to be anxious, you can't seem to align with worry anymore.
5. You Align with the Faery Realm
I have always worked with faery energy, but I never made the connection that changing my diet would grow my relationship to the fae. One of the very first things that happened to me after switching entirely to plant foods was a surprise astral visit to the realm of faery. This incredibly lucid experience was life-altering for me. While the fae have visited and helped me over the years, they've never invited me in like this. I cannot even adequately describe the things I saw there. The density of animal foods makes trips to the faery realm virtually impossible. To align with the fae more, you must align more deeply with the plant kingdom and higher dimensions. And there's no better, more efficient way to do that than through a plant-based diet.
6. Consciousness Expands
We've known for a long time that psychotropic plants like marijuana, ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, and more, expand consciousness. But the truth is, all plants have the capacity to expand our consciousness, many in far more gentle ways and through less disruptive means. A plant-based diet nourishes your brain as well as your body. And the natural result of that nourishment is a blossoming of the consciousness over time, awakening you to new worlds, new perspectives, and new revelations and understandings.
7. You Grow More Empathic & Intuitive
I was already highly empathic and intuitive before switching to an all plant diet, but my gifts as an empath, intuitive, and psychic are growing by leaps and bounds as I continue on this path. One thing I hear from clients all the time is a desire to discover or heighten their psychic gifts. I often prescribe practices like regular meditation and divination with tarot, pendulums, or something similar. But if you really want to reach the next level in psychic and spiritual development, eliminating animal foods and going vegan can make a tremendous and speedy difference.
8. Lifelong Blocks Dissipate
We carry so much nasty energy around with us, often in the form of false or limited beliefs, stories, and concepts. Sometimes as negative memories or experiences we've encountered that have shaped the way we look at the world. These energies combine to create a formative wall that stands between us and some of the things we desire the most. In many cases, these blocks are totally subconscious. And some will stay that way. Going vegan naturally and spontaneously dissipates blocks built around subconsious guilt and repressed dissappointment, frustration, and fear that occur as a result of our unsupportive Standard American Diet and the suffering we consume and perpertuate along with the animal foods we eat.
9. Resistance Decreases
Every animal product you consume has attached to it the suffering and resistance that animal experienced to its own state of suffering and eventual slaughter. This is a recipe for increasing your own resistance and state of suffering. True suffering occurs as a result of our resistance to what is, to whatever is occuring that is not according to our preference and to which we ascribe the responsibility for our suffering. Surrender, the lack of resistance, doesn't mean everything will go our way, it means that even when things don't happen according to our preference, we know how to adapt and flow. Nature is in a state of non-resistance, and spending time in nature, and even more so through consuming plant foods, you entrain to that state of non-resistance. In other words, you organically surrender. And as a result, your suffering decreases.
10. You Discover What It Truly Means to Love Yourself
You may think you love yourself already. I did. But I can assure you that until you consistently and compassionately choose the highest quality foods to nurture and nourish your body, mind, and spirit, you are not loving yourself at the level you could be (and certainly not at the level Spirit does!). Now, self-love is one of those things where you need to start where you are. But at some point on your journey to higher self-love, you will need to make the switch to a plant-based lifestyle if you want to experience all the love that Spirit is pouring into you. Because if you don't, you will never, never know what you are missing out on.
11. Your Body Becomes a Temple
I tell myself this every time I feel tempted to eat something that I know is not capable of loving me back as I deserve to be loved. For example, once upon a time I loved Kraft macaroni & cheese. But let's face it, Kraft macaroni & cheese does not love me back. It cannot. It doesn't have the capacity to do so. At this point, as my body becomes cleaner and lighter and brighter and my vibration continues to climb, my body is very evidently becoming the temple I was always told it should be. (I'm not just talking about weight or body image, I'm talking about a feeling that you cannot know unless and until you go plant-based.) Now, when I consider eating foods that are beneath my vibration, I know that I would be sacrificing that temple and it is just not something I'm willing to do anymore.
12. Your Heart Grows (Everythings does!)
As a result of a plant-based diet, your capacity for love actually increases. This means that your own heart grows as your heart chakra becomes clearer and more fully supported by the choices you are making every day. That attracts more love into your life! The love you give yourself, the love you allow yourself to experience, pours through you and becomes a greater sense of love, compassion, and gratitude for the people and things around you. Every day I feel an enormous amount of love and gratitude for the planet and the plants that are feeding and healing me. I feel an enormous amount of love and gratitude for myself for continuing to make these high-vibe choices. And I feel an enormous amount of love and gratitude for the people and things who share my world. My heart truly runneth over.
*As a sidenote here, everything grows! Your mind, your soul, your hair, your nails. Everything.
In truth, this list could go on and on and on. And maybe I'll follow up with a sequel of twelve more things that really happen when you switch to a plant-based diet. But in the interest of brevity, I'll cease and desist for now.
Now, for all my crystal junkies out there, here are the earth-lovin', vegan-supportive, plant-happy crystals you can work with if you're ready to make this game-changing switch, if you're looking to increase the amount of plant foods you eat regularly, or even if you're just thinking about maybe, possibly eating a broccoli crown or strawberry now and again. These also work great if you want to align with plant energy in other ways, such as through gardening or herbalism.
1. Moss or Tree Agate
5. Ruby Fuchsite
7. Kambaba Jasper
9. Green Jasper
Hello, Crystal Junkies!
I wanted to do a quick vlog on how I keep or store my crystals and stones when I'm not actively using or working with them. I get asked about how to store crystals all the time, and while there's no one rule here, I thought it might help if I showed you how I'm currently handling that very same question.
If you have any questions on storing crystals and stones, or about anything in my video, feel free to leave it in the comments here or over on YouTube. I'd love to answer them!
Some estimate the mineral kingdom to contain over 4,000 species! That's a lot of crystal love to explore. Once you get a few of the basics--amethyst, quartz, citrine ... yawn--you might want to spread your wings a bit and try some new stones that are a little less common but equally fantastic. Here are five of my recommendations for crystals you may not be working with yet, but should!
This super high vibe crystal looks similar to quartz but has a different structure and a unique spirit. Wonderful for the crown chakra, apophyllite is encouraging, uplifting, expanding, and supportive. If the clear variety isn't doing it for you, try looking for a specimen in one of the lovely colors it can grow in (I recommend green!). Abundant and affordable, it often grows with stilbite. And I always say, "What grows together, goes together." So enjoy a piece featuring both if you find one!
This orange-hued member of the garnet family is so juicy and fun it's not to be believed! If you want to boost your qi, stir up some prana, get those creative juices flowing, and get moving in your life (hello, sacral chakra!), then this little powerhouse gem is for you. Spessartite (a.k.a. spessartine garnet) will help you get to the next level and make sure you have a good time doing it. Also a great choice for someone suffering with seasonal affective disorder, but may need to be worked up to for someone dealing with deeper depression or grief.
This cool, blue, heavenly variety of the normally earthy aragonite mineral is a real crowd pleaser. I don't know anyone who isn't drawn to it. It is like a balm for the throat chakra, easily opening and clearing expressive blocks and enabling higher communication. And if you want to have a little chat with your angels and spirit guides but don't know where to start, look not further. Blue aragonite opens those doors wide effortlessly. Specimens may be rare, but you should be able t locate a tumble polished palm stone.
First discovered in Arizona, this whopper of a crystal works wonders for the third eye. It's deep cerulean tones are like the waters of a bottomless ocean, inviting you to dive in. Great for settling the nervous system and calming those who suffer with anxiety, shattuckite helps us embrace the lesson of surrender. It enables us to explore our subconscious and integrate our shadow with less fear, and it quickly dismantles unhealthy triggers.
I have never met a jasper I didn't like. Ocean jasper is truly a wonder to behold. A limited resource, I always tell clients that if they find a piece of ocean jasper they like, they should go ahead and get it, as it's becoming increasingly harder to locate. It's multi-hued, mottled appearance makes every stone unique. Ocean jasper is my stone of hope. It helps us to let go of what we are strangling to death with our grip, and it is wonderful for cleansing, releasing, and restoring.
What I Wish Every Woman Knew
Do you know who you are?
Woman. Girl. Lady. Whore. Mother. Virgin. Her.
You have been called the fairer, weaker, prettier, pettier sex.
But is that who you are? Do you know?
I know who you are.
You are the first.
Not the second, not the last, not the least. Believe it, for it is written in the marrow of your bones. You are not a rib. A subset. A hybrid. You are the Originator. The Creatrix. The Womb. The Void. In the absence of all things, you persist. And your whisper lies at the heart of everything in existence. Your breath runs through the veins of trees. Your blood courses with the thunder of rivers. You are the current of divine energy pulsing through a mysterium of infinite dimensions. You are the clamor of life. And when that pulse subsides and the clamor wanes, you are the stillness that ensues. You are the silence of the grave at the end of days.
Look in the mirror. Who do you see?
I see the face of god staring back. Do you?
I see the wheat, the moon, the tides. I see the loam. I see the heart of creation. I see the pride of heaven. In your eyes are set Inanna’s stars. From your lips usher the sighs of Venus. Your breasts are the joy of Hathor. Your hips, the bounty of Demeter. Your vulva is the gateway between worlds, and your feet are Gaia’s kiss.
Say the word “goddess” over and over until you can say it without laughing or weeping or sighing or rolling your eyes. Etch it in your soul with the pen of your own voice. You are not a joke, or a myth, or a story. You are the earthenware of life. You are the gift of an ancient mother poured out on her beloved children. You are the keeper of miracles and mysteries older than the farthest star. You are the legacy of a heritage greater than the open sky. You are the daughter of a hundred thousand mothers. Beloved. Adored. Blessed.
Your beauty is innate, undeniable, indefinable. It is not subject to the dictates of peevish mores. It is wilder than an unbroken mare, and truer than the beat of your heart. Own it. It starts in your soul, unfurling from a single point, the singularity of love, rippling outward like the threads of Ariadne to shape your thighs and belly, to number each finger, toe, eyelash, to work the magic that is your divine face.
Look in the mirror.
Do you see the gaze of Athena staring back at you, clear as well water? Her mind is sharper than forged steel, her strength the backbone of legend. Her wisdom is your wisdom. When you cry, it is with the tears of Persephone herself, weeping for the sacrifice of her innocence. Your pain is also hers. Her metamorphosis is also yours. You move with the many arms of Durga. You speak with the voices of the Oracles. You stand with the power of Hera, Isis, Ishtar. You rage with the vengeance of Kali, and tremble with the nightmares of Hecate.
Do you see your mother’s eyes? Your grandmother’s cheekbones? Do you see the generations of labor, love, suffering, fighting, giving, striving, wanting, taking staring back? The queens and whores who made you? Can you recognize the shadow of their shame in the lines across your brow? The mantle of their struggle in the pucker of your skin? Would you hide their immeasurable beauty from the world, hang your head low with scorn for the story they each have written across your face? Yours is the courage of every woman in childbed, the longsuffering of every female slave, the dishonor of every little girl who has been used too soon, the fearlessness of every suffragist, the grace of every priestess, the embrace of every mother.
Your story is the true hero’s journey. Your story is their story.
Do you know who you are?
You are more than black, or white, or young, or old, or fat, or thin, or straight, or gay, or transgender, or even female.
Your darkness is Her mark of honor. Your paleness is Her virtue made flesh. Your youth is Her morning prayer. Your old age is Her hymn of the evening. Your fullness is the overflow of Her heart. Your leanness is the endurance of Her spirit. You cannot diminish Her.
Your pleasure in men is the quickening of Her womb. Your hunger for women is the height of Her rapture. Your longing for a form that matches the essence of your soul, a soul that knows what it truly means to be feminine without the trappings or the labels, but with the authenticity of desire as it rises from the censer of the heart like a sweet musk, is Her birth in a new age. You cannot diminish Her.
Do you know who you are?
The muse. The beauty. The sacred. The forgotten.
Languages rise and fall unable to capture your essence with an array of tongues. When the first man uttered his first word, it was only to speak your name. When the last man forms his final cry in his breast, it will be for your intercession. You have known gods and men, lovers and husbands, masters and slavers, kings and servants and none could wipe your memory from the annals of the multiverse or the dream of humankind. Your DNA is threaded with the cords of time, entwined with the fate of the Ten Thousand Things, and yet knotted and bound to an immortal loom of your own making. You are the weaver and the thread, the fibers and the tapestry. For every suffering you endure, you are the medicine of the world. Every violation against the least of you serves to raise your celestial station higher. And when despair overruns your transgressors, when their eyes are sealed with tears and their curses turn to ashes in their mouths because they have denied the fundamental truth of your Beingness, denied the blood and spirit which ties them to you, the anchor of all souls, and in so doing discovered the design for their own misfortune, then you alone will summon the power and compassion of the healer …
Or the magic and tranquility of the tomb, and begin again. For you are the circle of the wheel.
Look in the mirror woman, girl, lady, whore, mother, virgin.
You are Her.
