In my Crystal & Stones: The Basics class, I teach that crystals do two main things:
- They regulate energy
- They stimulate energy
They do this for the planet, where they are embedded in the crust (and deeper!), and they also do this for us.
To harness your inner mojo and find the motivation you’re lacking, you’ll want to work with stones that stimulate energy. Below are a few of my favorite choices for this and how you can use them to get your groove on again.
I love this stone whenever I’m feeling a little under the weather or not quite myself. One of my favorite practices is to take a quick citrine bath on those mornings where I wake up feeling less than rested and ready to go. Citrine is great for giving you a wake up call, getting you enthused about your day, and cultivating a positive outlook.
Red Jasper is my go-to stone when I’m feeling really strung out and spread thin. It opens and energizes my root chakra, allowing me to draw energy from my center. I like to tell clients that red jasper draws in scattered energy, meaning it is great in those times when you’re running in a dozen directions at once. Like citrine, I’ll bathe with this one on low mornings, and keep it close throughout the day.
I am a BIG fire agate fan because it combines two of my favorite things in one stone, flash or iridescence, and agate. When I need to gather energy to tackle something big, overcome a fear, or move forward with courage and optimism, I just can’t do better than having a bit of fire agate on me. In addition, it’s great for generating new ideas and inspiring me in new directions when everything starts to feel meh.
Garnet not only gives you the get up and go that you need, but it’s protective, carefully deflecting those people, tasks, and projects that have the potential to drain much needed energy stores. This one will help you seal up aura leaks so you can conserve your energy for the things that are in alignment with your highest good and only your highest good. Keep it with you when you find you’re losing energy and don’t know why, or know you’ll be in the presence of someone or something that drains you.
Carnelian is my TOP choice for stimulating creative ideas and the energy required to take action on them. Typically, coming up with creative solutions and projects is not my issue. In fact, I’m usually flooded with so many ideas that editing what to do when and how is my bigger challenge. But even I hit the wall now and again and just can’t seem to see a way around it. Carnelian is the perfect creative pick-me-up, and I will toss a couple of tumbles into my water and bottoms up! Then let the good times roll.
I call this one my get-er-done stone. Hematite is excellent for productivity. If you have a mountain of tasks to climb before you and only a day or two to do it in, hematite will help you forge ahead and make measurable progress so much faster than you would otherwise. It’s also a solid procrastination neutralizer and distraction blocker. I have some larger specimens I keep close for this, but tumbles in the pocket (or bra, ladies!) work well, too.
Okay, how do I put this delicately? If you find you’re lack of motivation extends to the … ahem … bedroom, then look no further than ruby. And trust me, a small dose of this powerful gem goes a very long way, so you needn’t fork over a lot of cash for large, costly specimens. Small stones that are less than gem quality will work wonders. Ruby isn’t safe in water, but you can place them around your tub for the same effect. Or hold a couple in your palms as you relax and breathe. Skin contact is ideal here, so keep them as close as you can and be prepared to rock your romantic inclinations.
