- Aloe Vera Gel (Not that radioactive-colored goop in the suntan lotion section. You want the food-grade stuff in the health-food aisle of your supermarket. If you can't find it, try a holistic store like Sprouts or Whole Foods.)
- Apple Cider Vinegar (Mine was cheap and not organic, but the organic stuff may yield even better results.)
- Essential Oil of your choosing (I used lavender, but you might prefer peppermint or patchouli or another nourishing oil.)
- Crystals for hair + skin (I recommend peridot, rhyolite, and unakite.)
I've been experimenting with all-natural, DIY beauty products recently in my attempts to go as green and clean as possible. I'm still working on nailing down the perfect shampoo formula, but I wanted to share this fabulous, crystal-infused hair conditioner recipe with all of you!
Mix equal parts aloe vera gel and apple cider vinegar, or mix portions of each until you reach the consistency you want. It's best to avoid going over a 1/4 a cup of each, as they won't last indefinitely like the stuff on the drugstore shelves. Add 5-20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix until well blended and drop your crystals in. Keep near the shower and add to the ends of your hair after each shampoo. Rinse briefly with cold water.
Everyone's hair is different, so it's hard to say if yours will react as well as mine. Keep this one off the roots unless you're deep conditioning and have nowhere to be that day. It will leave the roots clean feeling but greasy looking. And if you have oily hair, this may not be as good for you. But if you have highlighted, dry, or split-end hair like mine, your hair should love it!
